What is the 30 days Zero Waste challenge?

Zero Waste challenge
Jas (The Ginger) and Morgana (The Vegan) are undertaking the Zero Waste Challenge: finding ways to refuse, reuse, reduce, and recycle as much as possible in their lives, and ask you to join them on their journey.

The year was 2018. Two young, strong, independent (yet broke) students were sat drinking coffee ordered "to go".

One turned to the other, and said: “Hey, what’s all this plastic about?”
The other replied: “Yeah, it seems a bit unnecessary, doesn’t it?”

They had been awakened from their capitalism-induced, disposable-lifestyle slumber. There was no going back.

And now they are beginning the ultimate challenge: the 30 Day Zero Waste Challenge.

So, what is it? Zero-waste is an impressive ideology: “Zero Waste is a goal that is ethical, economical, efficient, and visionary, to guide people in changing their lifestyles and practices to emulate sustainable natural cycles, where all discarded materials are designed to become resources for others to use”.

We know, as humans, that we produce more waste than the world can handle, and the idea of tackling this head on can be very daunting. 9 billion tonnes of plastic have been produced since the 1950’s, and only 9% of this has ever been recycled.

Going zero-waste for 30 days isn’t just about plastic. As well as re-cycling, there’s going to be a whole lot of re-using, reducing, and even repairing going on.

Waving tearful goodbyes to disposable plastic straws, deceptive sell-by dates, and unnecessary liquid shampoos, these girls are saying hello to a new era. Without the waste. Their goal? To prove that individual actions can have a great impact when we all work together.

So who are these brave challengers?

Meet Jas and Morgana. A ginger and a vegan: united in their quest to eliminate waste and protect the planet. Join them in their journey to reduce their environmental footprint through everyday changes and simple swaps over the course of 30 days.
